Lalla Takerkoust lake and the Agafay

The bare stone hills of the Agafay desert with the High Atlas on the horizon

Lalla Takerkoust is a reservoir at the foot of the Atlas, 40 minutes from Marrakech, next to the Agafay stone desert. The day combines the two: lunch by the water, a swim, and the desert plateau in the same trip. About seven hours, from €20 per person — the shortest and cheapest day out we run.

Why combine the lake and the Agafay

They are ten minutes apart and completely different: water and greenery on one side, bare stone plateau on the other. It makes a short day feel varied, and it is the easiest option if you want a taste of the desert without committing an evening.

Frequently asked questions

Can you swim in Lalla Takerkoust?

Yes, from around April to October. There are lakeside restaurants with terraces and loungers.

Is this the same as the Agafay evening trip?

No. This is a daytime trip with the lake as the main event. The Agafay evening trips are built around the sunset and dinner at a camp.
