Essaouira day trip

Essaouira is the Atlantic coast escape from Marrakech: two and a half hours each way, a walled medina, a working fishing port, and around 20 °C when Marrakech is at 40. The day runs about eleven hours from €25 per person, with a stop at an argan cooperative on the way.

What the day looks like

  • A stop in the argan groves — you may see the goats in the trees
  • Free time in the medina: the ramparts, the Skala, the souks
  • The fishing port and the fish grills on the quay
  • The beach, and the wind that made the town a kitesurfing centre

Why it works in summer

The Atlantic keeps Essaouira between 20 and 24 °C almost year round. In July and August, when the medina in Marrakech is unbearable by mid-afternoon, this is the trip that makes the day pleasant.
